Coral’s the Color of the Year. Here’s How We’re Wearing It.

Every era is marked with their colors and trends. Our current aesthetic permeates through car design, interior design, fashion, home decor, products, packaging, and every aspect of our lives—from the color of your new sofa to the next New York Times bestselling book cover.

Some years it’s Mystical Purple. Other years it’s Hunter Green. For more than 20 years, Pantone, the leader in color trends for industries worldwide, has been picking a color of the year. According to their website, Pantone “highlights top seasonal runway colors, forecasts global color trends, and advises companies on color for product and brand visual identity. Through seasonal trend forecasts, color psychology, and color consulting, the Pantone Color Institute partners with global brands to leverage the power, psychology, and emotion of color in their design strategy.”

Power, psychology, and emotion.

Color speaks to us, and it says different things depending on the cultural context of the times.

What’s our jam for 2019? **Drumroll please**

Living Coral!

Pantone calls this color “An animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.” It speaks to nature, play, and travel, according to Forbes. And, in 2019, who doesn’t want their lives to be full of these things? Sign us up! We want a coral earring dangling from our lobes, stat!

That’s why we pulled together a list of our favorite jewelry that embodies this lively, sociable color. This year we’re all about having more fun, letting ourselves play more, and casting off to faraway lands that inspire us.
